IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer

(Full-time/Remote)

Salary: $45,000-$55,000/yr

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance our cloud-first environment. This individual will be responsible for administering Windows and Microsoft 365 services, providing high-level technical support, managing infrastructure-related projects, and enforcing system security policies. This remote-friendly role will collaborate across IT, Security, and business teams to ensure resilient, secure, and scalable technology operations.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration

  • Own Windows Server / Active Directory (on-prem & hybrid Azure AD).
  • Administer Microsoft 365 tenant services—Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, Defender, Purview.
  • Govern SharePoint Online site architecture, Dynamics 365 environment settings, and Power BI workspace security.

Third Party Hardware & SaaS

  • Manage physical server / storage appliances, network gear, and backup hardware.

Level 3 Support

  • Act as final escalation point for complex incidents—identity, messaging, endpoint, data platform.
  • Produce root cause analyses and mentor Service Desk tiers 1 and 2.

Project Delivery

  • Participate in infrastructure and M365 roadmap items (e.g., Teams Phone, Intune co-management, Azure Arc).
  • Manage tactical projects—scoping, planning, execution, change control, and retrospectives.

Performance & Accountability

  • Strive to meet or exceed monthly revenue goals and maintain individual project projections.
  • Ensure draft reports are delivered on schedule, with necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Monitor and adjust scheduled draft dates within our internal platform, keeping internal records up to date.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with hardware OEMs, MSPs, SaaS vendors, and internal business owners.
  • Provide status/risk updates to IT leadership and cross-functional teams.

Security & Compliance

  • Enforce conditional access, MFA, data retention, and endpoint protection policies.
  • Partner with the Security team to support annual SOC 2 audits and penetration tests.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years administering Windows Server & Active Directory, including hybrid Azure AD Connect.
  • 5+ years hands-on with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Intune/Endpoint Manager).
  • Proven experience handling Level 3 escalations and root cause investigations.
  • Demonstrated success managing IT infrastructure projects from scoping through cutover.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, DNS) and enterprise backup/DR.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred

  • Microsoft certifications: AZ-104, MS-102, MS-700, or similar.
  • Administration experience with Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI capacity).
  • ITIL v4 or formal project management background (PMP/Prince2).
  • Experience in regulated environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS).
  • Automation with PowerShell DSC, Azure CLI, Terraform, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
