Founded as LIFO Systems in 1983, Source Advisors is a specialized tax consulting firm providing R&D Tax Credit, Cost Segregation, Energy Efficiency (§179D), and LIFO inventory solutions for more than 37 years. Our new name, Source Advisors, strengthens our resolve and commitment to partnering with companies and CPA firms as an advisory source in maximizing government-sponsored tax credits, deductions, and incentives.

Chris Henderson

Chris Henderson, CPA

President

Since 2011, Chris has led Source Advisors, driving strategic direction for all aspects of the company and its cash generating solutions. Chris joined Source Advisors in 2003, previously providing similar federal specialty consulting at Ernst & Young. Chris is a CPA and holds a BBA and Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas. He is a frequent speaker and CPE presenter to industry trade associations, CPA firms, CPA associations, and local CPA chapters.

Deborah Roth

Practice Leader/Managing Director

Deborah joined Source Advisors as the Managing Director of R&D Tax Credits in 2009. Formerly with PwC and another boutique R&D tax credit firm, Deb has overseen more than 4,000 R&D tax credit studies in the over 20 years that she has focused solely on R&D tax credits. Deb holds a BBA and Masters of Accountancy from the University of Michigan School of Business. She is also a founding member of the National R&E Roundtable.

Chris joined Source Advisors in 2012 as the managing director of cost segregation and §179D. Chris was a tradesman and a general contractor for many years prior becoming a cost segregation provider. His cost segregation experience includes Arthur Andersen, Marshall & Stevens, and most recently, CB Richard Ellis. Chris is a frequent speaker at building and construction related forums as well as at CPA society meetings. He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction and finance from Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

Greg Byrant

Greg Bryant

Senior Managing Director

Greg is Senior Managing Director at Source Advisors where he is responsible for key client relationships and strategic development for the firm. Prior to the Source/Bedford merger, Greg was founder and Managing Partner of Bedford, having successfully established the firm as a recognized industry leader, guiding Bedford to the completion of more than 14,000 Cost Segregation studies, covering a wide range of property types and sizes. Combining experience in development, construction and engineering for more than four decades, Greg has a broad understanding of the commercial real estate industry, ranging from project conceptualization through construction and asset management. A graduate of Dawson College, Greg has also completed specialized real estate studies at the University of Texas at Arlington and Loyola University’s Sellinger School of Business in Baltimore, MD.
Greg is a Certified member and first president of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP), a nonprofit professional organization, where he has served as a member of the Board of Directors, Technical Standards Committee, and Testing Committee.

Charles founded the Source Advisors cost segregation practice in 2003 and rejoined the company in 2012 as the technical director of cost segregation and §179D. With more than 20 years of cost segregation experience, he has managed thousands of studies in a wide variety of industries. He previously served as the national cost segregation services director at two boutique tax services firms and provided cost segregation services at E&Y and KPMG. Charles is a frequent speaker at CPA society meetings on topics such as cost segregation and the tangible property regulations. Charles holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture from Tulane University.

Rachel Bishop

Rachel joined Source Advisors in July 2018 as a Senior Director of R&D Tax Credit Services with primary responsibility over the quality of deliverables. She has over 14 years of R&D Tax Credit experience working across a variety of industries with clients from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Source Advisors Tax, Rachel held a Managing Director role at a boutique R&D tax credit firm for 9 years. She has extensive experience with exam advocacy and appeals representation. Rachel graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in Accounting.

Leila Rayburn

Marketing Director

Leila joined Source Advisors team in 2018 and currently oversees marketing content, strategies and initiatives across the R&D, Cost Segregation, LIFO, and Energy Efficiency services. Her experience includes 8 years in the financial services industry and 15+ years in B2B marketing specializing in content and lead generation strategies and execution. She is also a seasoned corporate trainer. Leila received her Bachelors of Arts degree from University California, Los Angeles.

Jon joined Source Advisors as the Vice President of Sales in 2020, a position recently created to support the continued growth and development of our national team of business tax credit professionals. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Jon held a similar role with leading national R&D tax credit practice, Intrepid Advisors. His 20+ year career in sales has taken him around the country and the world, and spans diverse markets ranging from handheld electronics to hydrogen fuel cells. Jon has a contagious passion for client success and works tirelessly with our team of experts to provide exceptional results, on time, every time. Jon’s background includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic University in Troy, NY.

Deborah joined Source Advisors as the Managing Director of R&D Tax Credits in 2009. Moises Romero

Tax Controversy Leader Senior Director, Miami

Moi joined Source Advisors in 2007 and currently leads the Tax Controversy Practice. He has more than 18 years’ experience working with R&D tax credits across all qualifying industries as well as significant IRS audit experience, including appeals. He is considered a national expert in software R&D and has specialized knowledge of financial services software. Moi was formerly a manager on PwC’s national R&D team specializing in the oil and gas and manufacturing industries. He has been with Source Advisors for over 10 years, helping to establish and grow the R&D practice significantly over that time frame. He holds a BS in Finance from NMSU and a Masters in Accounting from University of Dallas.

George Marfeo

Senior Director, Virginia Beach

George joined Source Advisors in 2007 and is a Senior Director of R&D Tax Credit Consulting. His former experience includes working at PwC in the national R&D tax credit practice and tax compliance experience at KPMG as well as experience at a regional accounting firm. George has focused specifically on R&D tax credits for over 20 years. He holds a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Taxation from Bryant University.

Holland joined Source Advisors as a Director of Tax Controversy in 2017. He has more than 12 years of experience working with Federal and State tax credits including the defense of credits before the IRS and State agencies. Holland holds a BS in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Taxation, and Juris Doctor from Georgia State University and is a licensed attorney in the State of Georgia. He has published articles on taxation and law in the Journal of Multistate Taxation and Georgia State Law Review.

Andrea Stone

Client Services Director, Dallas/Ft. Worth

Andrea joined Source Advisors in July 2020 as the Client Services Director for the R&D Team. Her primary responsibility is leveraging her technical background to serve as a liaison between Source Advisors customers and both the sales and technical teams. Andrea will work alongside existing clients to improve understanding of current business operations and industry/economic trends to help maximize their R&D tax credit benefits. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Andrea spent over 15 years in the R&D industry serving in various roles, including her most recent as a Technical Director for a boutique firm. She has long tenures with other R&D Specialty Firms as well as being part of the R&D tax credit team for Deloitte. Andrea has extensive experience in many industries including manufacturing, oil and gas, biotechnology, medical device, financial services, A&E and software development. She holds a B.S. in Biology/Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Jordan joined Source Advisors in 2015 and is a Director in the R&D Tax Credit Consulting department. His primary responsibilities include providing technical sales consulting to CPAs and companies looking for guidance on R&D tax credit potential and managing R&D tax credit projects. His experience includes eight years of market risk management, software development, and operations in OTC derivative markets. Jordan holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree with a double major in Accounting and Finance from Grand Valley State University.

Alex joined Source Advisors in 2013 as an R&D Project Manager and in 2016 expanded his role to Director in the R&D Tax Credit Consulting department. He has over a decade of dedicated experience with the R&D tax credit. His primary responsibilities include conducting preliminary evaluations for R&D qualification in addition to managing and executing projects for a wide range of industries. Alex holds a BA in English and a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine and is fluent in Korean.

Alex joined Source Advisors in 2016 and is a Senior Manager in the R&D Tax Credit Consulting department. His primary responsibilities include leading R&D tax credit projects, conducting interviews and documenting qualified activities. His former experience includes 5 years in operational planning and risk management, most recently leading global projects in OTC derivative markets. Alex received a BBA from Grand Valley State University with a double major in Business Economics and Finance. In addition, Alex received an MBA from Central Michigan University.

Mike Laderer

Senior Manager, Dallas/Fort Worth

Mike joined Source Advisors in 2008 and is now a Senior Manager. His primary responsibilities include leading R&D tax credit projects, conducting interviews and documenting qualified activities as part of the R&D tax credit study process. Other responsibilities include evaluation of potential clients and the activities they perform as it relates to the R&D tax credit regulations. His former experience includes seven years working in the pharmaceutical industry and seven years in the retail industry. Mike received his BBA from the University of North Texas.

Laura joined Source Advisors in 2017 and is a Senior Manager over Quality and Content Compliance in the R&D Tax Credit department. In this role, her primary responsibilities include management of the Content Compliance team and report deliverables. Laura has implemented processes and training procedures aimed at improving compliance and quality standards of the reports. Her experience includes six years in financial services leading projects, and three years in Supply Chain Management at Chrysler. Laura holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Grand Valley State University.

Greg has over 35 years in the construction industry, including project estimating, senior project manager, and owning successful firms. He is a LEED-accredited professional and incorporates this knowledge base with his construction background in civil engineering, structures, site-work and building systems. His comprehensive experience allows him to identify key elements of the Source Advisors process and integrate them into positive solutions for clients. Greg has a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in History from Stanford University.

Hank is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 19 states and works closely with commercial real estate owners and investors as well as accounting firms to provide creative solutions combining cost segregation and Asset Management studies with energy efficient building incentives and tax deductions. Hank has over 35-years of experience in the engineering and construction fields. Prior to joining Source Advisors, he was chief engineer of the Facilities Engineering and Consulting Division for Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI), one of the largest consulting engineering firms in the United States. In addition, Hank is a structural engineer with significant construction experience in the design and analysis of commercial buildings. He is a member of American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP), Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Hank received his BS in Aerospace Engineering from Mississippi State University.

Mike Armstrong

Director

Mike joined the Source Advisors cost segregation team in 2014 as a manager. He has over 17 years of experience in fixed asset accounting including performing cost segregation studies, repairs studies, fixed asset and maintenance studies, dispositions studies and business personal property tax. Mike has worked in the past for KPMG and most recently Baker Tilly Virchow Krause. Mike obtained his Enrolled Agent certification in 2015 and has been Six Sigma certified since 2012. Mike holds both a bachelor’s degree in finance from West Texas A&M University and an associate degree in management from Amarillo College.

Patrick joined Source Advisors in 2019 as a senior manager in the cost segregation department. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Patrick gained valuable experience during more than 15 years in Big Four public accounting and other consulting firms, providing tax consulting and valuation services to Fortune 500 within the manufacturing, retail, transportation, pharmaceutical, technology and hospitality industries. Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and has been a LEED Green Associate since 2010.

Andy originally joined Source Advisors in 2004. He is currently a senior manager in the cost segregation department. He has extensive experience performing cost segregation studies, repairs studies, fixed asset and maintenance studies, and dispositions studies. Andy holds both a bachelor’s degree in construction science from Texas A&M University and an associate degree in computer drafting from Lamar University. He has taken courses at Texas A&M University where he plans to earn his MBA.

Director

Imran joined Source Advisors as an energy modeler and cost segregation consultant in 2010. He is currently a senior manager in the cost segregation department and is the director of §179D. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Imran was a mechanical engineer at HMS Engineering in Chicago. He has more than 11 years of experience in sustainability and energy-efficient buildings and is a LEED Accredited Professional and a licensed professional engineer. He received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Bernitta came to Source Advisors in 1988. Over the past 32 years she has had a major role in design and developing many of the programs and processes for quality control, workflow, review processes, tracking of client information and organization. She oversees all aspects of the production of the Automobile LIFO offering. Continuously working to improve efficiency and maintain a high quality of output for our clients and internally within the company as well.

Sara joined Source Advisors in 1995 as a Customer Service Manager. She was integral in developing Source Advisors’ proprietary software program for the IPIC method. Sara has served in several roles while on the Source Advisors team, including the development of the Trade Discounts service, Sales Support, and as Director of IPIC Services from 2001 to 2005. Currently, Sara serves as Director of LIFO Client Services; she provides technical sales support for LIFO and serves as a liaison between Business Development Directors and the IPIC production team. Sara has her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Abilene Christian University.

Cherie Brown

Manager, IPIC Production

Cherie Brown joined Source Advisors in 2002 and serves as the Manager of IPIC Production, which utilizes a propriety software program for the IPIC method. She coordinates the entire process of the IPIC LIFO calculations from receiving and review of information to the production and timely delivery of IPIC LIFO calculations to more than 250 clients. Additionally, she ensures that estimates are completed for future prospects looking to utilize the IPIC Method. Cherie was formerly a Director in the Washington National Tax Services Group at PwC where she spent 14 years using propriety software to generate tax documents for companies in the Publicly Traded Partnership industry. She received her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University.

Stuart Burlingham

Director, Northwest Region

Stuart joined Source Advisors in 2014 as the Director of Business Development for Northern California. A native of California, Stuart works with CPA firms and their clients to help them claim tax incentives like the research and development tax credit and the cost segregation depreciation deduction. Stuart’s prior experience includes 11 years with CCG, a tax consulting firm focused on state and federal employee-based incentives. He also spent 17 years working in the telecommunications and business services industries for such well-known companies as MCI Corporation, Xerox Corporation, and Qwest Communications. Stuart earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Masters of Business Administration from The Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Nicole joined Source Advisors in 2020 as a Client Services Manager for the Greater New York metro region. She is responsible for developing and growing long-term relationships with clients. Previously, Nicole spent five years as a Division Manager in the education sector. Prior to that, Nicole spent 12 years as a Production Manager for a global laser manufacturer and supplier. During her time there, she led a team of 6 engineers and helped to facilitate R&D efforts in the crystal growth department. She has a bachelor’s degree in materials science engineering from Rutgers University.

Sean McKirdy

Director, Salem, MA

Bill Cusato is a Senior Director based in the New England region. Since 2005, Bill has initiated over 1,600 Cost Segregation and Energy Incentive studies across all commercial property types. He works directly with owners and their financial advisors to establish the potential benefit of each project and then acts as a liaison with the client through the completion of the study. Bill is a frequent speaker and is very involved with the education of the commercial real estate industry and also provides ongoing continuing education training and CPE credits to the CPA community. Bill holds a BS in Business Management from the University of Massachusetts – Boston with further business coursework at UCLA and Boston University.

For more than 18 years, David as has helped companies and business owners decrease taxes and increase cash flow by millions of dollars every year through specialized business tax incentives including R&D tax credits, cost segregation, EPAct 179D tax deductions, LIFO inventory solutions and 45L energy-efficient home credits. David provides accurate tax benefit evaluations that CPAs can take to their clients and business owners can use for cash flow analysis. His primary goal is to make sure the CPA and clients have correct and comprehensive information of the tax incentives by being responsive, thorough and engaging. David’s experience as a CPA for 33 years and ability to build beneficial relationships are the keys to successful engagements. He received his BBA in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin University.

David educates and consults with a large variety of business types and sizes, coordinates R&D tax credit and Cost Segregation studies, estimates and proposals. Davis is a CPA with 30+ years serving clients in a tax capacity. Formerly a Senior Manager, Tax at Deloitte, Director of Business Development at CCG (California Credits Group) and time in the corporate tax departments of Capitol Records (EMI) and MGM/UA communications Co. MS in Taxation from San Diego State University, 1985. BS in Accounting from San Diego State University, 1984 .

Jennifer joined Source Advisors 2004 as a Senior Technical sales specialist. She educates and consults a large variety of business types and sizes. Prior to Source Advisors, Jennifer was Manager of NYC Cost Segregation Practice, Machinery & Equipment Appraiser specializing in power plants & manufacturing facilities, and a Project Engineer responsible for construction management and design of Fiber Optic Networks. She has a bachelor’s degree in materials science engineering from Rutgers University.

Tony joined Source Advisors in Jan of 2013 and currently is the Senior Business Development Director for Southern CA and Arizona. He has more than 20 years’ experience working with CPAs and companies in helping them understand and benefit from specialized tax incentives. He also served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps and was part of the first Gulf War in 1991.

Frank Giudici is a Business Development Director on the Source Advisors Team. He is instrumental in fostering relationships with people who can take advantage of the value-adds that the Source Advisors team provides and constantly seeks to educate those on the subject matters of cost segregation, energy-efficiency and R&D. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Frank received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and then spent 13-years in the Construction Management industry working throughout the Northeast on a variety of construction projects in several roles. Most recently, he served as the Procurement Manager over-seeing the buy-out strategy and implementation for multiple nanotech projects in Upstate New York. Frank’s expansive construction management background paired with his well-versed communication and detail-oriented nature bodes well for enriching peoples’ lives (pun-intended).

Brett Hansen

Brett is a welcome new addition to the team as a Senior Business Development Director over the Southeast and currently resides in Nashville. He brings to the firm over 6 years of national cost segregation experience across all industries and facets of the tax strategy. Brett is NASBA- certified speaker with over 500 CPE presentations across the country to CPA firms and Real Estate Investment groups and prides his work on technical knowledge, responsive service and a consultative approach to his clients. His 15-year career in real estate development and construction provides a valuable perspective for his clients in applying these tax-saving strategies. He holds an MBA from Brigham Young University preceded by bachelor’s degrees in Japanese and Business from the same.

Conner Iddiols is a Business Development Director in the Southeast Region. He works closely with commercial property owners and their CPAs to find solutions through Cost Segregation, 179D, and R&D to help increase Cash Flow. Prior to joining the Source Advisors business development team, Conner worked as a Distribution Operator for one of the Nation’s largest grocers, maintaining the flow of product in and out of the Distribution Center. He is a Graduate of Valencia College in Orlando, where he holds an Associate’s Degree with a focus on Business Administration.

Bill educates and consults with CPA firms and business of all sizes to be a value-added resource. He coordinates R&D tax credit, Cost Segregation and 179D estimates and proposals for business that range in size from Fortune 500 to family businesses. Bill understands CPA firms’ need to bring new tax savings strategies to their clients and to minimize their tax burden. His over 20 years of working in the tax consulting and valuation arena have provided Bill with a great understanding of client’s needs and the application of various incentive opportunities to enhance cash flow. Bill holds a Master’s Degree from West Chester University.

Sean is a Director of Business Development for Source Advisors for the Northeast. Based in Connecticut, Sean works across multiple industries to help companies increase their profitability by reducing their tax liability through the R&D tax credit program. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Sean gained extensive product development and manufacturing expertise holding key positions at manufacturing companies supporting aerospace engineering and medical diagnostic system development. He is an active board member of the CT Manufacturing Resource Group and is also an inventor with five issued U.S. patents to date.

Assistant Tax Director

Candace is Assistant Director of the Tax Accounting Methods & Credits Department at Source Advisors, where she oversees Tangible Property Regulation (TPR) projects and performs tax reviews and report certifications for cost segregation studies. She has more than 20 years’ experience specializing in the field of fixed assets. Prior to Source Advisors, Candace worked with a leading tax consulting firm providing federal income tax planning in cost segregation, tax depreciation, capitalization and repair deductions, and tax accounting methods. During the first nine years of Candace’s career, she focused on general accounting and fixed asset accounting for a multinational manufacturer and a national financial services firm in Dallas, TX. Candace holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Advance Technical Certificate in Professional Accountancy from Dallas College. Candace is a Certified Member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP), a nonprofit professional organization, where she currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

Sara joined Source Advisors in 1995 as a Customer Service Manager. Since then she has served in several roles including Sales Support and as Director of IPIC Services from 2001 to 2005. She has been integral in the development of the Trade Discounts service and Source Advisors’ proprietary software program for the IPIC method. Sara served as Director of LIFO Client Services for many years and she continues providing technical sales support for LIFO. Sara is currently working on the business development team, continuing to help her clients increase their tax savings and increase cash flow. Sara has her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Abilene Christian University.

Louis Riley

Louis helps US and UK financial services companies and their owners reduce their income taxes by claiming government tax credits for their companies’ proprietary software and hardware design and development and their integration of third tools and systems. Louis has over 30 years of experience in advising the financial services industry. He has a deep knowledge of hedge funds tax and legal structures, market microstructure, trading and hedging strategies, and advanced innovations in both Fintech hardware and software. Prior to Source Advisors, Louis advised financial services companies, he worked as a quant, prop trader, portfolio manager, and hedge fund manager.

Since joining Source Advisors, Frank has spent his time explaining the tax advantages of cost segregation to his clients and their CPA’s. Frank has over 30 years of experience in the business and financial consulting industry. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Frank spent 8 years in the cost segregation industry with another firm. Frank also spent 14 years in Divisional Management positions with TSI, which was part of the largest accounts receivables management firm in the United States. Frank has been a guest speaker at numerous regional and national sales conferences. When not on the job, Frank sits on the board of a fraternal organization that works with local veterans. He also coordinates fundraising events for various charities like Early Connections Learning Center and Candle Lighters of Southern Colorado (a children’s cancer organization).

Al grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Ohio University. Shortly after graduation he got a position with IBM and moved to Dallas. Originally with the company from 2003-2008, he played a significant role in growing the Cost Seg and R&D practice from inception across the U.S. Al was also instrumental in bringing LIFO to CPA firms and clients throughout the country. Throughout his 25+ years in business development, he has worked with companies from small to Fortune 50 in various industries. As the Director of Business Development for the Midwest, Al uses his passion for helping others and specializes in forming strategic alliances that add value to CPA firms and their clients & prospects.

Brielle joined Source Advisors in 2018 as an Account Manager for the Greater New York metro region. Her responsibilities include improving accuracy and efficiency, accelerating the internal process for onboarding new clients, boosting the team’s response time and delivering exceptional client experience. Previously, she worked as a Marketing Coordinator at national media company supporting the advertising and sales division. Prior to her marketing role, Brielle was an auditor for a CPA firm. Over her two years with the firm, she focused on management companies, hedge funds and commercial businesses. She has bachelor degrees in accounting and marketing from Rowan University.

For over 16 years, Becky has successfully established a client list ranging from Individual property owners all the way to Fortune 500 companies. Combining experience in Finance and Real Estate for more than two decades, Becky has a broad understanding of the commercial real estate industry and Financial Planning, ranging from project conceptualization through cash flow and asset management. Prior to joining Source Advisors, Becky was a Financial Planner and Equity/Bond trader for firms such as Merrill Lynch and SSN, Inc. Becky held her Real Estate license in the state of Tennessee for more than 10 years.

Randy Thompson builds on Source Advisor’s excellent reputation in the Southeast region with a focus on Florida. Working closely with CPA firms, developers, investors and asset/portfolio managers, he assists his clients in increasing cash flow using Cost Segregation and Asset Management studies. Randy began his career in sales over 30 years ago and has a well-established record in the recruiting, engineering, automotive, and general sales industries as well as being self-employed. He owned and managed a home inspection company which included inspection of real-estate property. He has an AA in Agriculture Management from Kansas State University

Michael Warady, CFP is a Regional Director at Source Advisors who has helped clients secure over $360 million in increased cash flow through incentive strategies such as the Research & Development Tax Credit, Inventory Tax Planning Strategies (LIFO), Cost Segregation and other negotiated and statutory incentive programs. Over the past 15 years, Michael’s clients have appreciated his consultative approach which has allowed them to realize significant increases in cash flow through various incentive opportunities. Michael is a Certified Financial Planner and holds Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Iowa.
