Affected taxpayers in Florida now have until May 1, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, including 2024 individual and business returns normally due during March and April 2025 and 2023 individual and corporate returns with valid extensions and quarterly estimated tax payments. Â
Key Tax Relief Measures
- Extended Filing and Payment Deadlines: Individuals and businesses in 51 Florida counties now have until May 1, 2025, to file various tax returns and make tax payments originally due between October 5, 2024, and May 1, 2025.
- Automatic Relief for Most Taxpayers: The IRS will automatically identify most affected taxpayers and apply the relief.
- Relief for Taxpayers Outside the Disaster Area: If you live outside Florida but your records necessary to meet a deadline are located in the affected area, contact the IRS at 866-562-5227.
- Disaster-Related Losses: Individuals and businesses in a federally declared disaster area can claim uninsured or unreimbursed losses on your tax return for either 2023 or 2024 (with an extended deadline of October 15, 2025).
- Disaster Relief Payments: Certain government payments for disaster relief may be excluded from your income.
- Retirement Plan Relief: Additional relief may be available for retirement plans and IRAs.
